Using car wax is the easiest and cheapest way to protect your car’s paintwork. Car wax preserves paint by forming a barrier against bird droppings, sap, and road dust. Waxing your car is work, of course…yet it will help keep your car new.

Needless to say, driving around in a shiny car improves your professional image too. So here’s what to do to ensure the maximum paintwork protection:

1. Use paste wax for the hardest, longest-lasting finish, and choose one with high carnauba wax content. Although liquid and spray waxes make the car shiny with less work, these offer less protection than paste wax.

2. Avoid applying too much car wax. Use a damp sponge to apply a thin, even coat of wax will do. Using too much car wax makes it difficult to remove and may also mar your finish.

3. Once the car wax dries, use a clean, soft cotton or micro-fiber cloth to remove residual wax.

4. Apply an extra coat of wax to the hood –- car wax in these areas wears away quickly.

Once you’ve worked in the car wax, your car’s paintwork can keep your car shining for at least a week or two. The paintwork can be protected even up to a month using high carnauba content car wax.
